brians winter- 19
In this part of the book i read from page 20 to 25. This part was about the encounter that he had with the bear. He was so happy that he didn't get messed up because he knows what the bear could have done to him. He now was studying his camp figuring out ways to make it better and more secure and he now realized that he was in the wilderness and no animal plays by the rules he realizes that it isn't society and its the wild where he would be killed if an animal was hungry and it needed to eat. He was scared and was trying to figure out ways to make his home or camp more secured from animals like that and he was going to find out ways to get better weapons for example the arrows that he makes make them suraded or poisoned so he could actually take down animals like bears and wolves and not have to worry about them.
brians winter- 18
In this part of the book i read from page 15 to 20. In this part of the book there was a brush of warm weather for a little bit for Brian so he was living comfortably. He had also discovered that wolves and bears came to his camp and he was even sitting there when he was there. He thought that they were all friends together. He marked his territory by peeing where the did. Then one day a bear came and he kicked it and it hit him and cut him up. He thought he was living in some perfect society where the birds and the wolves and bears and all the animals lived together like it was real living like back at home he had thought. If that was me i would have never done something that stupid like kick a bear in its ass while its right in front of me... that's pretty stupid to do. If there was a bear or anything near me like that i would have took out some sort of weapon like a gun or bow and arrow or something like that and i would have it right away if i had the chance.

brians winter- 17
In this part of the book i read from page 7 to 15. Right now he just got up and he's going to hunt to go get food. His gun is messed up he noticed and so now he was mad and swearing and he had gone back to his camp to go get a bow and arrow to kill animals so he can eat. I couldnt imagine being out there with only a gun to get my food and then something going wrong like that with that gun and that having to have to learn how to use a bow and arrow or instead just die of starvation right away.

brians winter- 16
`I started to read a new book now. This book is the next book from Hatchet. This book is called Brians Winter. I read from page one to seven. He had been in the forest now for about a total of 89 days. He has been survivng off of food that he had got from the plan frozen dried food. He also had survival materials such as matches and clothes and things to start a fire and a rifle and ammo so he can hunt animals. He was so tired of being out there he was always thinking of food he wanted and couldn't have. The most things were the girls and his family and friends he was always thinking about that. He was a teenager so i could understand him thinking about girls and wanting to be with them. I dont know what i would do if i was in a situation like that or if i ever was. I would be doing everything possible to survive and to get out.

the things they carried- 15
In this part of the book i read from page 83 to 88. Here he talks about telling war stories and things that happen and stories that are told and people never ever believe them. There was a story about how four guys were walking on a trail and a grenade sails out and one jumps on top of it but it was a killer grenade and as they are about to die the guys look at him and ask why did you do that? He says "story of my life" and they all smile as they are about to die. The point is that the war stories some are true and some aren't but war stories usually aren't happy stories.
the things they carried- 14
in this part of the book i read from pages 78 to 83. In this part of the book Rat kileys best friend Curt lemon died because he stepped on a booby trapped 105 mortar round. Rat was so sad he was crying and trying to get a hold of himself. Later that day they were walking and they ran into a baby water buffalo and they caught it and used it to haul their stuff across the land. Then rat tortured the buffalo because he was so sad he shot it in its ears and its mouth and everyone did nothing. I found that so f*cked up. If i was in a situation like the i would have punched him right in the face and beat him down. I dont think that there is any reason for an animal to be tortured because of someone else problems. He had to get over what had happened. He did after a while though.
the things they carried- 13
in this part of the book i read from prage 73 to 78. In this part of the book they talk about when the guys cant cope with vietnam and what happens. They cant take it they lose it. He said he hears guys thinking they're in the abr talking about how they drinking martinis and making toasts and everything. They hear a vietnamese opera or "gook opera" and they just lose it. They dont know where they are, why they are there for, and what they're doing. That actually used to happen in real vietnam the men used to go crazy like that because they couldn't take it anymore. Some guys did make it though. They didnt lose it and they went home perfectly fine.
